Once an apartment in the posh Rehavia neighborhood was the trophy for foreigners looking to buy in Jerusalem. With the remaking of King David Street, its five star hotels, and luxury apartment complexes, like Keter David and King David Residence, the action shifted eastward to Mamilla. Why not? It was even closer to the Kotel and right next to the then brand new Mamilla Mall.
Well, if you are not in tune with the pulse of Jerusalem the last few years, you may be surprised at the next trophy destination, none other than Kiryat Ha’Leom and its flagship Mishkenot HaU’ma project.
For old time Jerusalem visitors this may come as quite a shock. Afterall it is not far from the Ramada Hotel which was always considered a terrible location. But oh, how the city has changed!
With the light rail, vast upgrades to Kiryat Moshe and Romema, and most of all the incredible construction going on to build a new city center, Jerusalem’s balance is taking a major swing westward! Not only does Mishkenot Ha’Uma sit right on the light rail which is a game changer for the city, but also right near the new high speed train to Tel Aviv and Ben Gurion airport.
Misheknot H’aUma is also in close proximity to Jaffa Street and Machane Yehuda Shuk, the hottest tourist spot and great culinary feast in the country. With its central location it is close to many of the popular neighborhoods in Jerusalem. It is also within walking distance of the Old City.
This all, already exists. Once the new city center is unveiled, all these upsides may pale in comparison to Mishkenot HaUma’s location in the city center! But for that, I myself can not yet wrap my head around and will just need to wait and see.
What I could tell you is that even at its current high price, no location in the city has anything close to the untapped value potential the Mishkenot Ha’Uma has, as far as investment is concerned.
So for an incredible living experience or as an investment vehicle, Mishkenot Ha’Uma is our clear choice for right now, and will only intensify over the next few years!
