What’s Next for Beit Shemesh? The Tel!

Beit Shemesh over the last 10 years or so has been Israel’s fastest growing city, growing by 63% from 2008 to 2018. Israel’s second fastest growing city during that period, Bnei Brak, grew at half that rate. Since 1995 when Ramat Beit Shemesh didn’t exist, Beit Shemesh has grown five fold!

Initially on one hill, Ramat Beit Shemesh offered expansion further south on adjacent hills. Today with the building of Neve Shamir and Rama Dalet, Beith Shemesh now covers the entire area from highway #10 on the east to highway #38 on the west and to Route 375 on the south.

So is that the end of Beit Shemesh expansion? Not quite. Look careful and you will find pockets within these boundaries to build. And you can be sure in Beit Shemesh they will find them! So Beit Shemesh is going back to the future to the oldest part of the town, Tel Beit Shemesh, and has approved a plan to build 570 apartments, tons of office space and yes… a hotel!!

If you don’t own an apartment in Beit Shemesh, you now have another chance. Don’t ever count Beit Shemesh out, as long as the sun still shines.
